Welcome!

Hi! I’m Phil Hartwick; Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and National Certified Counselor (NCC). My life’s passion is to guide myself and others to the best version of themselves. I’m so glad you are ready to start that journey and I am excited to join you! For each client, I ensure that I bring humor, knowledge, relatability, and insight in order to provide the environment that you need in order to grow.

Education and Experience

When I began my collegiate career, I had aspirations of one day becoming an attorney. However, as I studied psychology and counseling, I simply couldn’t get enough of it. So, as is the case for many, I altered course; I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in psychology and one in criminal justice. From there, I set out to complete my Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Grace College (Winona Lake, IN). This CACREP-accredited program allowed me to gain the knowledge, skills, and tools necessary to help a vast array of clientele.

I have had the privilege of working in several professional settings; an adolescent treatment home, a middle school, a college counseling center, and a group private practice, before venturing out as a sole practitioner. Working in these settings has allowed me to gain knowledge and expertise in working with couples, adults, and adolescents.

I have provided counseling in Fort Collins, Loveland, and Windsor since 2016. Living and working in Northern Colorado has been a dream come true; I am passionate about the development and growth of our community.

I have also had the privilege of serving as an adjunct professor over the past few school years; I had the opportunity to teach courses such as Intro to Counseling, Intro to Psychology, Multicultural Psychology, and others. This helps me stay informed about recent trends in developments in the counseling community, to better assist you, the client.

Counseling with Phil

Clients who work with me experience more than ‘just venting.’ While I acknowledge that this is absolutely valuable at times in therapy, I help my clients obtain real-life insight and tools to better themselves. I integrate many modalities (treatment styles) in therapy. My goal with every client is that we are able to spend time laughing, crying, learning, and growing together; therapy should be an all-encompassing experience.

Personal Background

I always want my clients to know; I’m not just a therapy robot, I’m a real person. I have spent much of my life in the mid-west, growing up in Grand Rapids, MI before going off to school in Northern Indiana. I was fortunate to meet my wife in college, before marrying in 2014. It was in 2016 that we packed our bags and headed to Colorado. On the weekends, I still enjoy my lifelong hobbies; playing baseball, dabbling in music, attending concerts, and spending time outdoors in any way possible.
